Looking for unique things to do in Cheshire? Learn how to bake with the brilliant Dan Hunter from The Great British Bake Off in this exciting, hands-on class. Over three hours, discover how to make classic sweet bakes and learn fun new skills. The class is small, interactive, and with plenty of opportunity for questions and guidance. It’s great fun and really not as hard as you might think; you just need to be shown how. Perfect for beginners, this class is fun, relaxed, and informative. There will be a bit of pair work, but you can come on your own or bring a friend. Everybody is welcome. What will we be baking?
- Financiers: A small almond cake made with a beurre noisette. Topped with fresh seasonal fruit and a fruit glaze.
- Baci Di Dama: “Ladies kisses”. An Italian nutty biscuit that melts in the mouth.
- Sable Biscuit: A classic French shortbread biscuit.

Welcome to our Bread Making Cookery Class, your perfect introduction to the art of bread baking! In this hands-on class, you’ll learn the fundamental techniques to create a variety of delicious breads from scratch. This class is guided by none other than Great British Baker finalist Dan Hunter and hosted by Jinny, the owner of cookery school Cooking With Jinny. During the class, you’ll learn to make:
- Flatbread: Discover the secrets to making versatile flatbreads, perfect for any meal or occasion.
- Breadsticks: Master the basics with classic breadsticks, and explore exciting variations to elevate your culinary skills.
- Basic Loaf: Learn how to bake a simple yet adaptable loaf, providing a foundation for countless bread recipes.
This relaxed, four-hour class will be conducted at an easy-going pace, allowing ample time for bread to rise and for you to absorb each step. Additionally, a light seasonal meal will be provided to complement your freshly baked bread. Join us and unlock the joy of homemade bread with expert instruction from Dan Hunter and the warm hospitality of Jinny. This class is perfect for beginners and baking enthusiasts alike!
At the end of the class, sit down to taste-test your new creations with a brew and enjoy a Q&A session with Dan. You are welcome to take home your desserts, but please bring your container. Dan and Jinny look forward to seeing you there!

Dan was really knowledgeable about bread making giving us handy hints and tips, it was easy to follow his instructions. He had a friendly and relaxed approach helping out if needed e.g my wonky bread sticks!!! I was a novice, however my friend is a more experienced bread maker we both enjoyed it very much. While our bread was proving we were treated to a cup of tea and delicious cakes. When they were baking we sampled our flat breads and bread sticks with some humous, olives, cheese and salad. We all had yummy loaves at the end of it which went down well with some pate and glass of wine when we got home. It has inspired me to try making some more loaves at home. It was a great afternoon I would definitely recommend it and it was good value for money.

I booked this bread making experience for my Mum’s 70th Birthday. Jinny and Dan were fantastic mentors and hosts, which made the day memorable and fun. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends and family!

I have learnt quite a few things from this bread class e.g wet doughs for an open crumb, dry doughs for a dense brick like loaf. Dan’s knowledge of bread was fantastic. The atmosphere in the class was phenomenal, relaxed and low pressured and I wish I could do it all again.
